All year round, mom makes life a little easier on everyone – now it's time to return the favor.

It's important to not let Mother's Day slip by without recognizing it in some way, but bouquets of springtime flowers get old, so here are 10 things dad can do to make this holiday a memorable one.

1. Plants

Rather than go out and buy a bouquet that is sure to die within a week, consider planting some of her favorite flowers or plants in the yard. Better yet, make her a small vegetable garden that she can enjoy throughout the upcoming seasons.

2. Gift Basket

Make her a basket full of her favorite goodies – candy, tea, candles, skin care products and cookies are small items that make a big impact when presented nicely.

3. DIY

You can take the basket idea one step further and fill it with items you made yourself, like these cute Candy Bar Cookie Pops or this super simple Creamy Chocolate Marble Fudge.

4. Cook

Make her favorite dish. Rather than taking the whole family out to an expensive restaurant, just make something homey – like this delish Vegetable Lasagna – and have everyone except mom chip in to clean up. She might just enjoy the role reversal.

5. Back Rub

If you're good with your hands, consider giving your wife a back or foot massage at the end of the day – this may turn out to be a great way to reconnect.

6. Photo Album

Just about all moms love looking back on when the kids were young, so consider making her a photo album. You can even go high-tech with a digital photo viewer loaded with old family snapshots.

7. Breakfast in Bed

A luscious spread of these amazing Strawberry Breakfast Crescents and this savory Overnight Egg-Sausage Bake is sure to start mom's day off right.

8. Nature Hike

Plan a pleasant hike through your local nature trails, or even just go for a stroll downtown. Remember, it's the simple things that make life special.

9. Take a Hint

Listen to the hints she's been dropping. If your special lady has mentioned that pair of earrings or silk scarf she's had her eye on lately, take her cue and get it for her.

10. Cocktails for Two

On Mother's Day, after the kids have gone to bed, mix up a batch of Manhattan Cocktails or even some fruity Strawberry-Rhubarb Slush to end the day on a perfect note.
