Snacks are an important part of your eating since they help sustain your energy level between meals. The key is to choose healthy snacks – ones that will satisfy you without blowing your calorie budget for the day.

Here are 20 of my favorite picks for spring:

1. Strawberries

Strawberries are just coming into season in parts of the country, so it’s the perfect time to eat ‘em up. Wash them and enjoy! Or dip in a yummy fruit dip.

2. Frozen Grapes

Know what’s really super on hot days? Frozen grapes. Simply wash your grapes and then freeze them for a  fabulous icy treat.

3. Watermelon Slice

4. Yogurt

Yogurt is so good for you, and can really help you get your calcium in – especially if you choose a high-calcium yogurt like Yoplait Original.

5. Fruit and Yogurt Parfait

One cup low-fat yogurt, ½ cup chopped berries, 1 Tbsp granola.

6. Smoothies

Smoothies are delicious and so easy. Combine yogurt, milk and fruit in a blender for an easy and fast one.

7. Veggies and Hummus

This is one of my all-time favorite snacks. Carrots, pepper slices and cucumbers are all great for dipping.

8. Raw Sugar Snap Peas

9. Edamame

I love perfectly cooked edamame with a sprinkle of sea salt (the ones that are still in the shells!). Try Cascadian Farms for a quick, easy edamame to keep on hand.

10. Salad

Can salad be a snack? It sure can, and a tasty one at that. Load yours up with all the veggies you can, and sprinkle on one treat topping like a little cheese or bacon. Go light on the dressing.

Healthy Snacks

11. Almonds

Almonds are filled with healthy fats, so measure out a portion and enjoy!

12. Salsa with a Single Serving Tortilla Chips

Everything in moderation, right? Portion out a serving of tortilla chips and enjoy some salsa, like Old El Paso.

13. Peanut Butter Banana Sundae

A half-cup low-fat ice cream, 1 tbsp warmed peanut butter, and half a banana, sliced.

14. Nature Valley Granola Bars

These are super satisfying.

15. Whole Wheat Bread Spread with Peanut Butter and Drizzled with Honey

16. Simply Fruit Fruit Roll-Ups

17. Peanut Butter Banana Crunch Bars

Top a Peanut Butter Nature Valley Granola Thin with sliced bananas. Enjoy!

18. Caprese Salad

Combine ½ cup halved grape tomatoes with 1 oz cubed fresh mozzarella and 3 leaves of basil – sliced. Toss and season with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.

19. Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Oh, the salty goodness!

20. Pretzels and Guacamole

Yes, it sounds odd. But it’s so, so good.
