I bet you never thought that your Saturday morning breakfast food could be transformed into a Saturday brunch wedding cake.

People aren't sticking to the traditional all-white buttercream cakes for their weddings these days. With the struggling economy, people are turning to non-conventional ways to tie the knot and the food is following the same trend. This Waffle and Berry Wedding Cake is a unique twist on wedding cake, perfect for an outdoor brunch wedding.

But this waffle cake isn't just for the budge-conscious bride. Just because it's made out of waffles doesn't mean it can't be glamorous and make a statement. I guarantee your guests will remember THIS wedding and THIS cake.

Start by making some regular-sized Belgian waffles, along with some smaller ones for the upper tier. Numbers aren't important here. If you want a taller cake, make a couple of extra waffles.

Waffle Cake - add frosting

Strawberry frosting is going to act as our glue to make sure the layers stick together. The strawberry flavor compliments the fruit and is perfectly breakfast-y.

Waffle Cake final

Continue adding layers of waffles and fruit. This is where your creativity comes into play. You can't go wrong here. Just let your taste buds lead you along.

Colorful and vibrant, this Waffle and Berry Wedding Cake will have people saying "I do"!
