Cookie swap gatherings are great. Cocktail parties are even better. Why not combine the two for the ultimate holiday cheer?
Hi, I’m Jennifer from Betty Crocker’s Taste Seekers. I’m chief bartender, vocal vegetarian and sometimes blogger for the team. Our latest project is the Betty 10
, a list of top holiday trends and the delicious recipes inspired by them. Everything from hearty Beer and Bacon Mancakes
to decorated Vegan Sugar Cookies
. Something for everyone!
One of my personal favorite trends is what we’re calling Mixology Mashups -- a nod to bartenders across the country who are inventing new cocktails inspired by fresh flavors in food. We came up with a cocktail remix of our own and created a trio of cookie cocktails. Using the traditional Christmas cookie tray as inspiration, we created 3 Cookie Cocktails that taste like favorite holiday cookies -- gingerbread
, coconut macaroons
Simple syrup sweetens and flavors the cocktails. As the name implies, it’s simple to make. Just add some spices and equal parts sugar and water to a boil, then cool and you’re done. Make the simple syrup ahead so that you’re ready to shake, strain and pour once your guests arrive. The flavored syrup also makes a great gift. Just pour into a decorative bottle, add a cocktail recipe card and a ribbon or some other bling and you have an instant gift.
