Luck of the Irish—is it true?

Do the Irish have better luck than others? Even if you aren’t Irish, there are plenty of reasons to love celebrating St. Patty’s Day. There’s green beer, lucky charms, silly hats, leprechauns…the list of fun and fantastic things goes on and on. I’m a big fan.

And the food—Irish soda bread, corned beef and cabbage, green-dyed everything; there are a plethora of edible ways to celebrate, and I’ll get more into that later. To pair with these yummy Irish delicacies, I’ve created these too-cool-for-school green milk with shamrock ice cubes. If you’re saying OMG, you’re right on; the cuteness factor is through the roof. Let’s check out the how-to on the green milk.

First off, you’ve got to find yourself some shamrock shaped ice cube mold trays. I found mine on Etsy and they are perfectly miniature. Swoon!

I then found myself some darling accoutrements from Michaels: green ribbon, shamrock doilies, and little straws.

I already had the mini glasses as well as green food coloring, and of course, a household staple—milk. Easy peasy!

Pour your milk into the glasses and put just a drop of food coloring in each glass at a time. This way you can achieve the perfect green and ensure that all glasses will be the same color.

Stir and you’re done! I used two drops per milk shot to attain my green.

Carefully drop in a shamrock ice cube (or two), and you have yourself a festive little milk shot.

Add your adorable garnishes for a finishing touch. Serve these for a kids’ breakfast (I’m thinking green pancakes!) or to wash down any of these Tablespoon Irish treats!

Irish Soda Bread

There are lots of options out there, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the girlversusdough article about her version of soda bread. Mmmm…all that's missing is the green milk!

Something Sweet

I’m officially drooling over this Irish Cream Cheesecake and Irish Crème Brûlée.

Grab yourself a milk shot and you’ll be sure to have an extra lucky St. Patty’s Day!
