If the hardest part about eating more fruits and vegetables for you is just shopping for produce, we've got you covered!
We all remember the first time we had to go grocery shopping for ourselves and that overwhelming feeling of entering the produce section, where choosing something that tastes good is a crapshoot compared to the reliability of a frozen pizza or deli meat.
But fear not, young shoppers! There are just a few rules of thumb when it comes to picking out juicy tomatoes and sweet strawberries.
One of the best ways to tell if fruit is ripe and flavorful is to smell it. Don't worry about getting funny looks, just give your strawberries, apples or peaches a quick whiff to see if they're up to snuff.
Smelling your produce may also signal if something is bad, as will any signs of shriveling, bruising or damage. It's safe to say that anything leaking juice where it shouldn't be has passed its expiration date.
If you want to get even more up close and personal with your fruits and veggies, go to your local farmer's market and ask the vendors what you should be looking for in different types of produce. Once there, you can even pick up the goods to make this awesome No-Cook Vegetable Pizza
