One great dish that your friends might end up fighting over is bacon-wrapped dates. That's right, rich, sweet dates swathed in salty, crispy, smoky bacon. Even better, you can stuff the dates with anything you like – including the traditional cheese and almonds combo.

Begin with about 24 pitted dates. Medjool dates really work better than the deglet kind--they're bigger and therefore easier to pit, stuff and wrap.

  1. In a bowl, combine about 3 ounces goat cheese and 1 ounce blue cheese until the mixture is smooth.

  2. Spoon the creamy goodness into a sandwich bag and snip one of the corners off to make a little makeshift pastry bag.

  3. Fill each date with your goat and blue cheese mixture, leaving a little bit of room for your nuts.

  4. Insert a toasted almond into each date and squeeze it shut gently.

  5. Wrap the dates in half of a strip of bacon and skewer them with toothpicks that have been soaked in water (to prevent them from burning).

  6. Bake these tasty little babies in a 375-degree oven for about 20 minutes before letting them cool and serving.
