Looking to make a fun, cute dessert? Cookie cups are a great base to use. Basically, cookie dough is baked in muffin tins, where it rises and forms a bowl shape that can be filled with ice cream, custard or whatever you please.

Here’s how to make them:

Step 1: Get the dough

The easiest way to go is to use store-bought cookie dough. The break-apart dough is best for mini cookie cups (cooked in a mini muffin tin), but also super easy for a standard size muffin tin. The tubes of dough are best for muffin-sized baking tins. You can also use your favorite homemade dough.

Step 2: Fill the tins

For standard-size muffin tins: If you are using break-apart dough, break the cookies into their predetermined portion sizes and plop one into each cup in the tin. If you are using the tube of dough, cut into ¾ inch rounds and place one in each muffin cup.

For mini muffin tins: Using break-apart dough, cut each piece of dough into two pieces. Place one piece into each muffin cup.

Step 3: Bake

For standard size muffin tins: Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden at the edges.

For mini muffin tins: Bake for 11-14 minutes, until golden at the edges.

The center of the cookies will fall upon cooling, creating the cup look.

Step 4: Cool

Allow the cookie cups to cool completely before removing from the muffin tin.

And voila! You have a delicious and cute dessert base ready to go. You can make these up to three days in advance.
