Whether you're cooking up breakfast for the fam or making it as a special treat for dinner, French toast is a simple and delish dish everyone will love.

Imagine that it's mealtime and all you've got in the kitchen are the bare basics: bread, eggs, milk and butter. Sure, you could just scramble the eggs and make some toast – but why not transform these simple ingredients into something delectable?

French toast is not only amazingly delicious, but super easy and quick to make – whether it's time for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
How to Make French Toast

Begin with stale sliced bread. Whatever type you have on hand works fine. In fact, you can even use croissants, baguette or quick breads, like banana or zucchini.

Next, whip up an easy custard of four eggs and a cup of milk, whisking together thoroughly. Add vanilla extract, cinnamon, orange zest or a liqueur for extra flavor. You can also make your French toast savory by seasoning the custard with salt, pepper, chives, garlic powder or any other spice you like.

After giving your bread a dip in the custard, making sure to coat the whole surface, brown it in a buttered skillet on both sides. Top your French toast with just about anything you have on hand – honey, syrup, chocolate sauce, fruit, sautéed veggies, hollandaise sauce or even a fried egg and cheese. Frosted Toast Crunch cereal also happens to add an excellent bit of texture and flavor.
