Must-have mimosas for the perfect meal combo: Friends + Brunch = Frunch.
Set up a mimosa bar at brunch and let your friends DIY their drinks!
Today we’re going to be doing a bit of math. Don’t worry—it will be fun and end with bubbly.
Math, Part I: Breakfast + Lunch = Brunch.
Math, Part II: Friends + Brunch = FRUNCH!
See? I told you this was going to be fun.
Brunch has become my go-to meal for entertaining and spending time with friends. It’s relaxed, simple to plan, and also seems to be the most accommodating to increasingly busy schedules, especially as I enter that golden age where everyone I know is having babies. Come on over to Auntie Erin’s—I’ve got toys for the kiddos and mimosas for mom and dad!
While the combination of OJ + champagne will always be the classic for mimosas, feel free to experiment with other juices. Let your guests join in a little brunch mixology! For a refreshing twist on the standard mimosa that’s ideal for frunching, set up your own DIY mimosa bar.
To set up a mimosa bar, set out a selection of different fruit juices along with champagne. You can opt for one big bottle (or two) or use mini bottles so that each guest can have their own. For the juice selection, I kept the classic OJ, then added cranberry and grapefruit for variety. The grapefruit was my favorite, and next time I’ll add pineapple and mango as choices.
Although you can certainly leave the juices in their original cartons, for a more polished look, pour each into its own glass container or pitcher. Then simply set the juices out with the champagne and glasses, along with fresh berries to garnish.
From here, let your guests help themselves. Everyone will enjoy making their own custom mix (cranberry and orange together are scrumptious), and as host you can spend your time enjoying the party (instead of manning the bar).
Frunch: the new most important meal of the day!
