Seen a blooming onion in a restaurant and assumed it's only a job for professionals?

Wrong! These simple steps will have your onion blooming in no time.

The blooming onion is an impressive looking appetizer, and one that's great to share. Follow these simple directions on how to slice a blooming onion, as well as fry it up and serve it to friends.

Hot Tips

After learning how to slice a blooming onion so nicely, you may find the unfurling process more difficult with some onions than others. If you have trouble, try popping the onion into some boiling water for a minute, and then plunge it into cold water straight away. This will make the unfurling process a breeze.

To present your blooming baby in the best way, cut out the core using a small knife or repeated use of an apple corer, and put a small bowl of dip in the middle. Anything spicy or barbeque flavored in terms of dips will work well, but it's also pretty yummy on its own with some salt. Enjoy!
