When you’re ready to bake, but your butter isn’t, this simple kitchen hack will save your life.
We've all been there. You're ready to get baking, but you forgot to soften your butter. Sure, you could microwave it, but then you've got an uneven, melty mess that can take your recipe from good to bad real quick. Don't fret: we've got the ultimate butter-softening hack that will save the day.
First, fill a microwave-safe bowl 3/4 full with water. Microwave for 3-5 minutes, until boiling. Let stand, so the bowl gets good and hot. Do not grab the bowl with your hands; make sure to use oven mitts or a sturdy towel to protect your hands from the heat. After the bowl has heated, pour the water out and invert the bowl on a flat surface over your stick of butter. Allow to sit for 5 minutes or so, and voila! You’ve got yourself a stick of softened butter.
