Ingredients

  • 1 croissant
  • 3 slices mesquite turkey
  • 3 slices honey ham
  • 2 slices swiss cheese
  • 3 slices tomato
  • Small handfull alfalfa sprouts, about 1/4-1/3 cup
  • Half of an mashed avocado
  • 2 teaspoons dijon mustard

Steps

  • 1
    Cut the croissant in half.
  • 2
Spread the mashed avocado on the inside of the bottom half of the croissant.
  • 3
Top the avocado with the sprouts and then the tomato slices.
  • 4
Layer the meat next. It doesn't really matter what order, but I started with ham and layered the turkey on top of that.
  • 5
Top with the swiss cheese slices.
  • 6
Spread the mustard on the inside of the top half of the sandwich. Place the top half of the sandwich on top of all the layers. Enjoy!

More About This Recipe

  • I want to tell you about my favorite sandwich to eat in the summer. I like to call it a California "Club" Sandwich. I love making my own gourmet deli sandwiches at home for lunch. They are cheaper, faster, and usually better. Often we create sandwiches for dinner in the summer because it doesn't require us to turn the oven or stove on in an already hot kitchen. Sandwiches are perfect for showcasing delicious slices of fresh tomatoes from my garden and go great with a side of fresh summer fruit. I realize that your typical club sandwich has bacon on it and here I've opted for ham instead. It just makes the sandwich that much faster to prepare. But if you have bacon and it's already cooked or you don't mind spending the couple extra minutes to cook a few slices up, then by all means use that on this California Club Sandwich if you like.
