Fruit Cake Recipes

At some point, we’ve all had a cheap, store-bought fruitcake that was unpleasant enough to make a person almost swear off fruitcake forever. But that’s crazy talk – like never eating a burger again because the microwaveable one from the gas station was grody. The fruit cake has been a beloved food since the Middle Ages, evolving with time and cultures, but always focused on a sweet, rich mix of fruit and nuts (so rich that they were considered “sinful” and outlawed in 18th century Europe). Dark or light, dried or candied fruit, with or without alcohol - an incredible range of experiences are made possible by the flexiblity of fruitcake recipes and the wide variety of possible ingredients. The fruit cake recipes here are easy to make – and will help make believers out of even the most hardened fruitcake skeptics.
