What’s better than perfectly cooked asparagus? That same asparagus drizzled with fresh lemon juice!

Ingredients

Asparagus
Lemon, cut in half or lemon juice

Directions

  • 1 Break off tough ends of asparagus as far down as stalks snap easily; wash. Leave whole, or cut into 1-inch pieces if desired. Cook asparagus as desired. Squeeze juice from lemon over asparagus.
  • 2 <B>Cooking Guide for Asparagus </B>
  • 3 <B>To Boil: Spears</B>--Heat 1 inch water (salted if desired) to boiling in deep, narrow pan. Place stalks upright in pan. Boil uncovered 5 minutes; cover and boil 7 to 10 minutes for 1 1/2 pounds or until crisp-tender. <B>Pieces--</B>Add lower stalk pieces to boiling water; boil uncovered 6 minutes. Add tips; cover and boil 5 to 8 minutes for 1 1/2 pounds or until crisp-tender; drain.
  • 4 <B>To Microwave:</b> Place asparagus in microwavable dish with water (1/4 cup per 1 1/2 pounds asparagus). Cover and microwave on High 6 to 9 minutes for 1 1/2 pounds or until crisp-tender; drain.
  • 5 <B>To Steam:</B> Place steamer basket in 1/2 inch water in saucepan or skillet (water should not touch bottom of basket). Place asparagus in steamer basket. Cover tightly and heat to boiling; reduce heat to low. Steam 6 to 8 minutes for 1 1/2 pounds asparagus or until crisp-tender.
