Have this versatile baked appetizer ready in 25 minutes! Made using brie cheese, mushrooms, almonds, brandy and herbs, this dish can be served as either dip or spread.

Ingredients

1
tablespoon butter or margarine
2
tablespoons slivered almonds
1
cup chopped fresh mushrooms
2
cloves garlic, finely chopped
1
teaspoon chopped fresh or 1/4 teaspoon dried tarragon leaves
1/8
teaspoon pepper
1
tablespoon brandy
1
round (8 oz) Brie cheese
2
sprigs fresh tarragon, if desired

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. In medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add almonds; cook and stir 2 to 3 minutes or until almonds are browned. Stir in mushrooms, garlic, tarragon, pepper and brandy. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes or until mushrooms are tender. Remove from heat.
  • 2 In ungreased decorative shallow baking dish or 8- or 9-inch glass pie plate, place cheese; spoon mushrooms over top.
  • 3 Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese is soft. Garnish with tarragon sprigs. Serve as a dip, or spread on melba toast rounds or crackers.
Tips

Brie is a soft, rich and buttery cheese with an edible white coating or rind. When heated, it becomes very soft and spreadable. Now is the time to pull out those whimsical holiday-themed spreaders you have stored away!
