Enjoy this burger made using kidney beans and can be serve with oregano-sour cream sauce that’s ready in just 25 minutes – perfect for a dinner.

Ingredients

1/2
cup nonfat sour cream
2
tablespoons chopped green onions
1/4
teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/8
teaspoon salt

(15.5-oz.) can kidney beans, drained, rinsed
3
tablespoons unseasoned bread crumbs
1/4
teaspoon garlic powder
Dash ground red pepper (cayenne)
Dash pepper

egg, beaten
1
teaspoon margarine or butter
4
burger buns, split

Directions

  • 1 In small bowl, combine sour cream, onions, oregano and salt; mix well. Refrigerate until serving time.
  • 2 In medium bowl with fork or in food processor bowl with metal blade, mash beans well. Add bread crumbs, garlic powder, ground red pepper, pepper and egg; mix well. Mixture will be soft. With wet hands, shape mixture into 4 patties, 1/2 inch thick.
  • 3 Melt margarine in medium nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook bean patties 5 minutes. Turn and flatten slightly; cook an additional 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated and set. Serve in buns with sour cream sauce.
