Add an Asian twist to your dinner with these grilled kabobs made using beef and shrimp.

Ingredients

1/2
lb. boneless beef sirloin steak (1 inch thick)
3/4
lb. uncooked medium shrimp, shelled, tails left on, deveined
2
teaspoons grated lime peel
2
teaspoons sesame seed
1/4
teaspoon salt
1/4
cup lime juice
2
tablespoons honey
1
tablespoon dark (oriental) sesame oil

Directions

  • 1 GRILL DIRECTIONS: Cut steak into 1-inch pieces. Place steak and shrimp in resealable food storage plastic bag. In small bowl, combine all remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour over steak and shrimp in bag. Seal bag; turn to coat. Refrigerate at least 1 hour, turning occasionally.
  • 2 Heat grill. Remove steak and shrimp from marinade; reserve marinade. Alternately thread steak and shrimp onto eight 12 to 14-inch metal skewers. Brush with reserved marinade.
  • 3 When ready to grill, place kabobs on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals; cover grill. Cook 6 to 8 minutes or until steak is of desired doneness and shrimp turn pink, turning once.
Tips

To broil, place kabobs on broiler pan; broil 4 to 6 inches from heat using times above as a guide.

Light-colored sesame oil has a mild flavor that’s nice for salads and sautéing. Dark sesame oil has a robust flavor and aroma; use this deep brown oil like we have in our kabob recipe, to add a distinctive Asian accent. Look for sesame oil in the Asian foods section of the supermarket.

If you prefer your beef well done, thread the beef and the shrimp on separate skewers and grill the beef kabobs a bit longer.
