Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tube black gel food coloring
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Steps

  • 1
In a large bowl, mix together frosting, cocoa powder and a tablespoon of the black food gel to start. Combine.
  • 2
Add more black food gel until the frosting has reached the desired color.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
While you can make vanilla black icing, you’ll have to add a larger quantity of black food coloring, which will affect the taste. If vanilla icing is all you have on hand, increase the amount of cocoa powder to create that darker color.
  • tip 2
Use this eerily black icing to decorate cakes, cupcakes or cookies for Halloween parties or over-the-hill birthdays.
