A true delicacy of the sea! Boil a bunch of fresh crabs, and have family and friends over for a fun peel-and-eat party.

Ingredients

Easy Cocktail Sauce, if desired
4
quarts water
16
live hard-shell blue crabs

Directions

 • 1 Make Cocktail Sauce.
 • 2 Heat water to boiling in stockpot or canner. Drop 4 crabs at a time into water. Cover and heat to boiling; reduce heat to low. Simmer 10 minutes; drain. Repeat with remaining crabs.
 • 3 Follow directions for How to Eat Crabmeat. Serve with Cocktail Sauce.
Tips

(Total time will vary; cook or bake time is per batch.)

The melted butter served at many restaurants is often “drawn” butter. Drawn butter is made by melting butter and collecting the clear oil from the water and milk solids. Melted butter is fine to use at home and may actually have more flavor than drawn butter.

Save a step! Pick up a bottle of cocktail sauce at the grocery store.
