Apples and granola and bourbon, oh my!
Desserts like this should be illegal. And by that I mean never illegal. Never ever illegal. Ever.
It's thinly sliced apples. It's bourbon. It's granola. It's butter. It's cinnamon. It's bourbon.
Oh wait, did I already say that?
And you just dump it all into a skillet for a smidgeroo and life.is.good.
No wait. If you serve it with ice cream, life.is.great.
You want a great life, don't you?
Okay! Start by coring and slicing apples. I WILL SAY, after you slice them once, slice them even thinner. They'll soften quicker in the oven.
In a bowl, you'll combine the apples, bourbon, cinnamon and sugar. Toss toss toss.
In another bowl, combine the granola, oats and butter. Mix mix mix.
Layer the apples in a cast-iron skillet! Mine was 10-inch. I liked it.
Then sprinkle the buttery granola over the apples.
Bake it for 30-40 minutes, or until errrrthang is soft and golden brown.
Serve it with ice cream because life.is.great.
Get on it.
Bev says you can taste that bourbon beforehand, but don't tell anyone she said that. For more musings, visit her blog Bev Cooks and her Tablespoon profile.
