Ingredients

  • 3 apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 5 tablespoons bourbon
  • 4 tablespoons turbinado sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups Nature Valley™ protein granola
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 5 tablespoons softened butter

Steps

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • 2
Core and slice each apple into thin slices.
  • 3
In a large bowl, combine the apples, lemon juice, bourbon, sugar and cinnamon. Toss to coat the apples.
  • 4
In another bowl, combine the granola, oats and softened butter. Using your fingers or a wooden spoon, mix everything together.
  • 5
Place the apples in a 10-inch cast iron skillet. Top with granola mixture.
  • 6
Bake for 30-40 minutes in the oven, or until the top is browned and the apples are soft.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
If you use an apple corer to slice the apples, go ahead and cut each slice in half once more, making them thinner. They'll soften quicker in the baking process.
  • tip 2
This apple crisp tastes best served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
