When you crave comfort food, try this potato pie! It has a hearty layer of beef baked under creamy, flavorful mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

1
package Betty Crocker™ butter & herb mashed potatoes
1
pound lean ground beef
1
egg
2
tablespoons water
1 1/2
cups hot water
2
tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2
cup milk
1/4
cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4
cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375ºF. Shake 1 packet Potatoes and Seasoning. Measure 1/2 cup from the packet into ungreased pie plate, 10x1 1/2 inches; reserve remaining potatoes for step 3. Stir beef, egg and 2 tablespoons water into potatoes in pie plate. Pat evenly in bottom and up side of pie plate. Bake 20 minutes; drain.
  • 2 Stir together 1 1/2 cups hot water and 2 tablespoons butter until butter is melted. Stir in milk and second packet Potatoes and Seasoning. Spoon into pie plate; spread evenly.
  • 3 Stir together 1/4 cup melted butter, the Parmesan cheese and reserved potatoes (dry). Sprinkle over top. Bake uncovered 10 minutes.
Tips

Serve this delicious golden brown pie with green beans and red apple slices drizzled with a little ranch or blue cheese dressing.

If you don’t have a 10-inch pie plate, you can use a 9-inch square baking dish.
