I've made butterbeer before (using the same mixture, minus the vanilla vodka) so when I stumbled upon this recipe, I had to make it, even though I despise jello. Turns out I still despise jello and the working with jello (failed attempt to make lightning bolt shapes). Other than that, they taste just like butterbeer! I'm sure they're going to be a hit tonight! Thank you! ^_^

I made this recipe and ha great success with it. They set after 2 hours. Make sure you only heat till just warm enough to dissolve the unflavored gelatin. Then add the alcohol. I always add extra vodka and they are fine. If you don't want vodka I'd replace with extra schnapps and cream soda. Add 1 tbsp of vanilla extract.

1 packet of gelatin per 1 cup of any liquid. So if you have 4 cups liquid u will need 4 packets of gelatin.

Hi there! This recipe calls for two packets of the Knox unflavored gelatin which can usually be found in the baking aisle of your local grocery store. Each packet is 0.25 oz.

Everything in life is not about the kids. The point of this is that they are NOT kid friendly.

Make a kid friendly version by gelling 2 cups cream soda, a tablespoon butterscotch syrup and 2 envelopes plain gellatin

Removing the vanilla vodka would also remove the vanilla flavoring, but using 1/3 cup of vanilla extract would be very strong. You could experiment with dividing the 1/3 cup between water and vanilla extract to replace the vodka.

if you don't add vodka, should you substitute vanilla extract? (The vodka in the recipe is vanilla vodka so by removing vodka you are also removing the vanilla flavoring).

@arosen19, Replace liquor with water and extract. Careful with the extracts.

I've had troubles mixing extracts or flavorings with hot and cold temps before. If I just let them both even out from really hot or really cold to a temp that will literally let them all gel together, I have much more success!

i feel like the vodka and schnapps should be COLD, but not frozen. Think Jell-O, hot water and then cold water, right?
