Two Italian classics are finally together
in a most delicious way.
Even a cook-from-scratch girl like me appreciates quick and easy meals. Not only do these Caprese Calzones from Life a Little Brighter fit that description, they’re fun to make and eat! And if you have young kids, they’ll definitely enjoy helping you assemble these.
It’s true: You only need 5 ingredients, and prep time is just about 10 minutes. You’ll love the flavor of the oozing cheese, fresh tomatoes and basil with the soft and chewy texture of the pizza dough. Dip the calzones into your favorite pizza sauce and you have a quick and yummy meal!
Let’s get started!
Roll out the pizza dough onto a non-stick or lightly floured surface and cut it into four equal squares. In the center of each square, layer the tomatoes cheese and basil.
Fold in both sides of each square, pinching at the seams and edges to seal them.
Place the calzones seam-side down onto a cookie sheet and bake in an oven preheated to 425ºF for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with dipping bowls filled with your favorite pizza/spaghetti sauce.
