Caprese Turkey Burgers

As prepared by S Caron,

Turkey burgers can be a little boring. No, wait. They can be a lot boring. They lack the flavor intensity of a good hamburger made with 85% ground beef. And the texture? Well, it’s not always that remarkable either. And let’s not even talk about their propensity for dryness.

But, if there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that even a boring food like turkey burgers can be made into something to write home about with the right toppings. It just takes a little creativity and some great ingredients.

My solution for the boring turkey burger this summer? Caprese Turkey Burgers. They are totally unboring.

Turkey Burgers Recipe

A basic turkey burger (I buy the preformed patties in the meat section of the grocery store for these) is cooked up and then topped with … a caprese salad. The creamy fresh mozzarella, juicy and sweet basil make that old turkey patty a total wow.

It’s a perfect summer barbecue food. Get all the toppings ready ahead of time (that can be done hours in advance), then when it’s time to eat , just grill the turkey burgers and top them. Your guests will thank you.

And the best part of the experience? Using fresh summer produce to make ‘em.

Buh-bye boring turkey burgers!
