This rustic apple crostata takes only 20 minutes of prep time! Once it’s ready to serve, drizzle with caramel topping.

Ingredients

1
Pillsbury™ refrigerated pie crust, softened as directed on box
6
cups thinly sliced peeled baking apples (6 medium)
1/2
cup packed brown sugar
3
tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
2
tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger
1
teaspoon ground cinnamon
1
tablespoon cold butter
1
tablespoon granulated sugar
1/3
cup caramel topping

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 450°F. Line 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan with cooking parchment paper. Unroll pie crust in pan.
  • 2 In large bowl, toss apples, brown sugar, flour, ginger and cinnamon. Mound apple mixture in center of crust, leaving 2-inch border. Cut butter into small pieces; sprinkle over apples. Fold edge of crust over apples, pleating to fit. Brush crust edge with water; sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • 3 Loosely cover top and sides of crostata with foil; bake 20 minutes. Remove foil; bake 9 to 13 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender. Immediately run spatula or pancake turner under crust to loosen. Cool 30 minutes.
  • 4 To serve, cut crostata into wedges; drizzle with caramel topping.
Tips

Shop for crystallized ginger, usually packed in plastic containers, in the spice section or produce department at the grocery store.

Choose a crisp apple, such as Haralson, Honeycrisp or Braeburn, for this recipe.
