Tips & Techniques

  • High Altitude (3500-6500 ft):

    No change.

  • Tips

For fun, use any flavor of frosting and cupcakes that you like.

  • To make frosting the cupcakes easier, freeze them for 30 minutes before frosting.

  • How to

Use melted chocolate chips as the "glue" to hold the pretzel to the animal cracker. Refrigerate the pretzels and crackers to "set" the chocolate quickly.

Ingredients

  • 6  pretzel sticks
  • 1  tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 6  animal crackers
  • 1  container (1 lb) strawberry whipped ready-to-spread frosting
  • 6  unfrosted cupcakes, paper baking cups removed
  • Candy sprinkles
  • 6  small paper beverage umbrellas

Directions

  1. 1Dip 1 inch of one end of each pretzel into melted chocolate chips; press on back of 1 animal cracker. Place on sheet of waxed paper; let stand until chocolate is set.
  2. 2Meanwhile, spread frosting on sides and bottom of cupcakes. Sprinkle with candy sprinkles. Insert 1 animal cracker on pretzel into each cupcake. Place umbrellas in center of cupcake.
