Cava Sangria Jello Shots

A delicious mix of Cava (Spanish sparkling wine), fruit, and a few other delicious ingredients make for a refreshing jello shot that takes the everyday sangria to another level.

Ingredients

1
ounce unflavored gelatin
2
cups cava
1 1/2
cups white grape juice
1/3
cup brandy
1/3
cup orange liqueur
2
peaches
2
nectarines

Directions

  • 1 Finely dice the peaches and nectarines and set aside. They will be added to the jello shots later.
  • 2 In a saucepan, mix the gelatin and white grape juice. Stir until the gelatin powder is well mixed.
  • 3 Heat the saucepan to completely dissolve the gelatin powder (about 5-10 minutes). Remove from heat.
  • 4 Stir in cava, brandy, and orange liqueur. Mixture may be foamy, but this will dissipate as the mixture sets.
  • 5 Fill wine glasses with diced peaches and nectarines.
  • 6 Pour the gelatin liquid mixture over the diced fruit.
  • 7 Let the mixture set in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
  • 8 Cut into desired shapes and sizes and enjoy!

Cava Sangria Jelly Shots

As prepared by TBSP Kitchens,

It’s August, the summer heat is at full boil, and you’ve just spent June and July enjoying those perfect summer staples: beer and margaritas.

Now it’s time to switch things up a bit and bring something new to the table (or picnic, or BBQ, or pool party, or… Ok, you get the idea). That’s where Cava Sangria Jelly Shots come in!

These jelly shots are a twist on my classic family recipe for Cava Sangria. Cava’s the super delicious Spanish version of champagne, and takes sangria to a whole other bubbly level, which makes for the perfect summer drink when the heat is on.

To add some cool color and texture to these jelly shots, I threw in some nectarines and peaches (both of which are just hitting their peak of amazingness right now), and served them up in a fun, stem-less wine glass (with a spoon to scoop the shots).

You can put these jelly shots in anything, but the glasses made them easy to set and serve, and turned a little shot into the perfect boozy dessert to enjoy right at sunset.

The best part of these jelly shots? You’ll have plenty of brandy, orange liqueur and white grape juice left over to make the original Cava Sangria inspiration. Simply pick up an extra bottle of Cava at the store and mix away for a light, refreshing treat that’ll have you wishing summer lasted forever. Which makes me think, why can’t we all just live like its summer year round?? I’m gonna go figure that one out over some jelly shots and sangria. Enjoy!
