  • Popcorn Pops

Popcorn is a whole grain. Eating at least 3 servings of whole grain daily may help reduce blood cholesterol.

For an even lower-fat snack, increase cereal to 6 cups and omit peanuts.

Ingredients

  • 8  cups popped 94% fat-free butter-flavor microwave popcorn (from 3-oz bag)
  • 5  cups Cheerios® cereal or Honey Nut Cheerios® cereal
  • 1  cup honey-roasted peanuts
  • 1  cup raisins
  • 1/2  cup light corn syrup
  • 1/3  cup honey
  • 2  tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1/4  teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2  teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. 1Heat oven to 350°F. Remove and discard unpopped kernels from popped popcorn. In large bowl, mix popcorn, cereal, peanuts and raisins; set aside.
  2. 2In 1-quart saucepan, heat corn syrup, honey, margarine and cinnamon to boiling. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour over cereal mixture; toss until evenly coated. Spread in ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan.
  3. 3Bake 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool pan on cooling rack, stirring occasionally. Store loosely covered.
