What's better than a soft pretzel covered in cheese? Soft pretzels baked with smoked Gouda, ham, Dijon and cream, of course!

Ingredients

1
lb pretzel rolls, cut into 3/4-inch pieces (8 cups)
4
tablespoons butter
1
cup sliced onion
2
eggs
1/2
cup heavy whipping cream
2
tablespoons Dijon mustard
1
lb diced ham
2
cups shredded smoked Gouda cheese (8 oz)

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350° F. Spray 13 x 9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. Place pretzel roll pieces in large bowl; set aside.
  • 2 In 8-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion; cook 4 to 5 minutes or until tender and beginning to brown. Pour mixture over pretzel roll pieces in bowl; toss to coat.
  • 3 In medium bowl, beat eggs, cream and mustard with whisk. Stir in ham and 1 cup of the cheese. Pour over pretzel roll mixture; toss to coat. Pour into baking dish. Top with remaining 1 cup cheese. Bake 33 to 36 minutes or until rolls are crispy on top and thermometer inserted in center reads 165° F. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Tips

To keep mixture from getting too soggy, try not to press pretzel mixture in baking dish.

Have your ham sliced 1/2-inch thick at the deli counter to make dicing quicker and easier when you're putting this dish together.

If there is an extra salt packet included in your package of pretzel rolls, just discard or save for another use.
