Chex Mix: Fab for Parties, Trips...or Saving the Day in Traffic

As prepared by S Caron,

I am a planner with friends who are planners. It's a wonderful thing.

When we go on excursions and trips, we have lists of places to go, things to do and activities to enjoy. So, it should come as no surprise what when my friends and I escaped with my kids to Cape Cod for a weekend last year, we planned everything -- right down to the snacks.

I brought hummus and bread and fruit. Meanwhile, another friend supplied us with a wealth of sweet treats, including a fabulous batch of Puppy Food (aka Chex Muddy Buddies). Guess what we reached for most frequently?

While on our getaway, the Chex Muddy Buddies were awesome for an afternoon snack between outings or a late night bite when the girls and I stayed up talking way too late. I mean how can you go wrong with something that's made of peanut butter, chocolate, powdered sugar and a hint of heat (she added a little cayenne pepper -- it was amazing).

So, when we were leaving, we split the Chex Mix up (we'd taken two cars up), each leaving with some. And, heck, was it a good thing we did. On the return trip from the Cape, my kids and I got stuck in traffic. For six hours. Thank goodness we had a doggy bag (ha!) of Chex Muddy Buddies to snack on.

Whether you adore Muddy Buddies or some other variety of Chex Mix (there are so many ways to make it!), it's fabulous for a getaway, road trip or munching on at a party.

And, now you can vote on some awesome new Chex Mix flavors. Check out the finalists in the Make It, Try It, Vote! contest, and vote now. And FYI -- your votes will be doing some good too. For every vote, $2 will be donated to Feeding America. Keep voting and helping the cause through December 15!

I love a contest that does good, don't you?
