If your fans like chipotle and tacos, give 'em what they want on game day – all tucked inside a beautifully easy crescent ring.
And it is that time of year again.
What time you ask?
Time for playoffs and – the big game!! Which in my mind means one thing only. Darn good, cheesy, spicy, football food. Oh yes, the cheesier and the spicier the better.
Honestly, chipotle peppers are one of my favorite flavors and favorite ingredients to cook with. So the idea of a chipotle chicken taco ring pretty much just blew my mind. I mean, what could be better for a game-day party than this killer ring? Not much!
And it is so easy to make. You only need a few ingredients and some awesome toppings to get this on the table just in time for the game.
Gather up those ingredients.
Brown the ground chicken in a large skillet (use ground beef if you prefer). Add the peppers and sauté another 5 minutes or so.
Add some water to the skillet along with the taco seasoning.
And throw in the chipotle peppers!
Allow the mixture to cook until there is no more water.
Stir in the cream cheese and some of the cheddar until all the cheese has melted into the taco mixture and is nice and creamy.
Set aside and let the mixture cool a little.
Grab those crescent rolls and baking sheet. Unroll the crescent roll dough in rectangles. I found it really helpful to pinch the seams of the triangles together to help form a better-shaped rectangle.
Place the rectangles so there's a circle left in the middle.
Grab that taco mixture and spoon it into a ring at the center of the crescent dough circle.
Sprinkle with a little more cheddar cheese because, I mean, why the heck not?
Fold the top of each crescent dough rectangle over the chicken filling, pressing into place to secure the dough all the way around the filling.
Place the ring in the oven – and while the ring bakes, assemble the toppings!
When the ring comes out of the oven, let it cool five minutes and then fill the center up with lettuce, guacamole, salsa, more cheddar cheese and some pickled jalapenos.
Slice and serve. People will go nuts for this!
