Ingredients

  • 1  cup (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
  • 1/2  cup sugar
  • 1  teaspoon vanilla
  • 2  cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
  • 1  to 2 tablespoons colored sugar

Directions

  1. Mix margarine, 1/2 cup sugar and the vanilla in large bowl. Stir in flour. Divide dough in half. Shape each half into roll, about 2 inches in diameter and about 6 inches long. Roll in colored sugar. Wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours until firm.

  2. Heat oven to 350º. Cut rolls into 1/8-inch slices. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
