Looking for a fruit dessert? Then serve these oranges and red grapefruit slices drizzled with sugar-corn syrup - ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1
tablespoon light corn syrup
1
vanilla bean
3
oranges, peeled
3
red grapefruit, peeled
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds

Directions

  • 1 In 2-quart saucepan, stir sugar, water and corn syrup. Split vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out seeds; add seeds and bean pod to sugar mixture. Heat to boiling over medium heat; boil 5 minutes or until thick and syrupy. Remove from heat; discard vanilla bean pod.
  • 2 Cut each orange and grapefruit crosswise into 1/4 inch thick slices. On rimmed serving platter or in serving bowl, alternately arrange orange and grapefruit slices. Drizzle syrup over fruit. Sprinkle with pomegranate seeds.
Tips

This vanilla syrup is also good stirred into coffee, tea or lemonade or spooned over fresh berries.
