Get creative with Betty Crocker® frosting and decorating gel! Surprise your guests with these delicious chocolate cupcakes - perfect dessert that's made using Gold Medal® all-purpose flour.

Ingredients

cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour

cups sugar

cup baking cocoa
1/2
cup shortening

cup water

teaspoon baking soda

teaspoon baking powder
1/2
teaspoon salt

tub (1 lb) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy chocolate ready-to-spread frosting
Assorted candies and cookies, if desired
1
tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ black decorating gel, if desired

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 400ºF. Place paper baking cup in each of 24 regular-size muffin cups.
  • 2 Beat all ingredients except frosting, candies, cookies and decorating gel in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Fill cups 1/2 full.
  • 3 Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cupcake comes out clean. Remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • 4 Spread with frosting. Decorate with candies to look like butterflies and ladybugs .
