Get the awesome taste of chocolate chip cookies without all the work! Bars are an easy shortcut to great cookie taste.

Ingredients

pouch Betty Crocker™ chocolate chip cookie mix
1/2
cup margarine or butter, softened
1
egg
1/3
cup chopped nuts, if desired

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350ºF. Stir cookie mix, margarine and egg in medium bowl with spoon (mixture will be crumbly until soft dough forms). Stir in nuts.
  • 2 Spread dough in ungreased square pan, 8x8x2 inches.
  • 3 Bake 25 to 28 minutes or until light golden brown; cool. For 18 bars, cut into 6 rows by 3 rows.
Tips  

Warm cupboards? If your cookie mix has been stored above 85°F, refrigerate it for 1 hour before mixing to keep those chocolate chips from softening.

Change the flavor by changing the nuts. Besides walnuts and pecans, try hazelnuts, pistachios or macadamia nuts.
