Whole Grain Total™ cereal and dried fruits and nuts stir into a favorite munch that's a good source of iron for healthy cells.

Ingredients

4
cups Total™ Raisin Bran cereal
1/3
cup sliced almonds
1
bag (8 oz) dried mixed fruit (1 1/2 cups), cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/4
cup packed brown sugar
2
tablespoons butter or margarine
2
teaspoons ground cinnamon
1
teaspoon ground ginger

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 300° F. In large bowl, place cereal, almonds and fruit; set aside.
  • 2 In 1-quart saucepan, heat brown sugar and butter over low heat, stirring occasionally, until butter is melted. Stir in cinnamon and ginger. Pour over cereal mixture; toss until evenly coated. Spread in ungreased 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan.
  • 3 Bake 15 minutes, stirring twice. Spread on waxed paper. Cool about 30 minutes. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.
Tips

Eating at least 3 servings of whole grains like Cheerios™ cereal daily may help reduce blood cholesterol. Look for the word "whole" to be sure you get the whole grain.

The cinnamon and ginger lend a spice twist to this amazing-tasting snack mix. Loaded with cereal, nuts and dried fruits, it stores well, so keep it on hand and munch on small amounts when you have a snack attack.
