3 loaf pans, 2 bowls, mixing spoons, mixer, spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 1 lb. chopped dates
  • 2 2 cups boiling water
  • 3 2 eggs
  • 4 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 5 2 Tablespoons baking soda
  • 6 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 7 3/4 cup shortening
  • 8 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 9 2 cups sugar

Directions

  1. Put chopped dates in a bowl.

  2. Sprinkle with Baking soda, Pour boiling water over dates. Let sit until cool.

  3. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.

  4. Add vanilla and dry ingredients

  5. Add date mixture.

  6. Mix well

  7. Then add nuts

  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hr. in greased floured pans

  9. A tooth pick should be used to check if done.

  10. Insert tooth pick, should come out without any batter on it.
