Five ingredients is all you need to have these date and walnut bars ready – made using Pillsbury® Refrigerated Sugar Cookies – an elegant dessert!

Ingredients

1/2
(18-oz.) pkg. Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Sugar Cookies
1
(8-oz.) pkg. chopped dates
1/2
cup sugar
2
eggs
1/3
cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Break up cookie dough into ungreased 8-inch square pan. Press dough in bottom of pan to form crust.
  • 2 Bake at 350°F. for 12 to 17 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  • 3 Meanwhile, in medium saucepan, combine dates, sugar and eggs; stir to combine. Cook over medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until mixture is very thick, stirring frequently to prevent scorching.
  • 4 Remove crust from oven. Spread date mixture evenly over partially baked crust to within 1/4-inch of edges. Sprinkle with walnuts.
  • 5 Return to oven; bake an additional 10 minutes. Cool 45 minutes or until completely cooled. Cut into bars.
Tips

Prepare these bars up to two days in advance and cool them completely. Tightly wrap the bars in plastic wrap or foil, or place them in a resealable food storage plastic bag. For longer storage, freeze the wrapped bars for up to two weeks.
