Blogger Beth Dooley from Seasonal Appetites shares a favorite recipe.

Ingredients

1
cup Original Bisquick™ mix
1/4
cup butter or margarine, softened
3
tablespoons hot water
1
cup packed brown sugar
2
large eggs
1/4
cup butter, melted
2
tablespoons bourbon
2
teaspoons vanilla
1
cup pecan halves
1/2
cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  • 1 Heat the oven to 350°F.
  • 2 In a large bowl, using a pastry cutter or two knives, cut the Bisquick mix and butter together until the mixture resembles small peas. Stir in the water to make a soft, but crumbly dough. Press in bottom and ½ inch up sides of 8-inch or 9-inch square pan.
  • 3 Bake crust 15 minutes; remove from oven.
  • 4 Meanwhile, in a large bowl, beat the brown sugar, eggs butter, bourbon, and vanilla; stir in the pecan halves. Pour egg mixture over the crust. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top.
  • 5 Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until the topping is set and browned. Cool completely in pan on wire rack, about 1 hour. Cut into 5 by 5 rows.
Tips

Vary the nuts by using walnuts instead of pecans.

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave and drizzle them over the baked bars for a pretty effect.
