    Ingredients

    • 1/2 Onion minced
    • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
    • 2 Cups Dr. Pepper (or other soda)
    • 1 15 ounce can Tomato Sauce
    • 1/3 Cup Cider Vinegar
    • 1/4 Cup Honey
    • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
    • 1 Teaspoon Cayenne (opt.)
    • 1 Pinch Salt

    Directions

    1. 1Mince onions and add them to a medium pot with oil over medium heat. Cook until onions are soft.
    2. 2Add Dr. Pepper and tomato sauce and bring to a simmer.
    3. 3Add other ingredients and stir.
    4. 4Simmer BBQ sauce, stirring frequently until sauce reaches desired consistency. Depending on your tastes that could be 60-90 minutes. I like mine a bit on the thicker side.
    5. 5Be sure to taste it near the end and season with salt or adjust any other flavors that you want more of (more vinegar for example).

Hmm... not really sure on that. Normally slow cookers work to keep moisture in. With a BBQ sauce you want it to reduce so just a normal pot works great. Once you had the BBQ sauce made though, you could use it in any number of BBQ slow cooker dishes.

Could this recipe be used in a slow cooker? I would love to be able to come home from work and have it ready. Any thoughts?
