Who said making apple fritters has to be hard? Making your own is easy when you start with biscuit dough.

Ingredients

Vegetable oil for deep frying
1
large Granny Smith apple, diced
1/4
teaspoon ground cinnamon plus additional cinnamon for sprinkling
1
can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Homestyle refrigerated original biscuits
2
cups powdered sugar
4
tablespoons butter, melted
1
tablespoon milk

Directions

  • 1 In deep fat fryer or heavy saucepan, heat 3 inches vegetable oil to 350° F.
  • 2 Place 1 large Granny Smith apple, diced, in small bowl; sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  • 3 Open 1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Homestyle refrigerated original biscuits; separate into 8 biscuits. Using sharp knife, cut each biscuit half open, like you would a bun. Use your fingers to lengthen the biscuit. Spoon about 1 1/2 tablespoons diced apples in the middle of each biscuit, and cover with the other half of the biscuit by flipping on top. Use your fingers to seal in the diced apples.
  • 4 Fry fritters in hot oil on each side about 2 minutes or until golden crisp. Remove to cooling rack using slotted spoon. Sprinkle with additional ground cinnamon.
  • 5 In small bowl, beat 2 cups powdered sugar, 4 tablespoons melted butter and 1 tablespoon milk. Add more milk a teaspoon at a time if glaze is too thick. Drizzle fritters with glaze, and return to cooling rack to set.
Tips

You could also serve these for dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
