When we sit down at my favorite Chinese restaurant I always look through the entire menu, swearing that this time I’m going to try something new. But I always go back to my favorite lettuce wraps. They’re filled with chicken and veggies, all tossed with an amazing sauce that strikes an addictive balance between sweet and savory. I’ll even find myself happily licking the sauce off my fingers as I eat my lettuce wraps. (No shame here.)
It’s so good, in fact, that I had to find a way to make it at home. After some experimenting I found just the right balance of ingredients.
The only thing lacking in my favorite wraps from the restaurant are lots of veggies. They add peas and carrots, but I like to really load up on the vegetables so I tossed in a bag of Cascadian Farm Chinese-style Stirfry Blend, which is packed with organic broccoli, green beans, mushrooms, onions, red peppers and carrots. Then for a bit more crunch I added some finely sliced water chestnuts and a handful of bean sprouts.
This dish is ready to serve in about 25 minutes, and I think it tastes even better than the restaurant version. Healthier, too!
