    Ingredients

    • 1 pound (16 ounces) ground beef
    • 1/2 cup diced white onion
    • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
    • 1 (24 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
    • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 whole egg
    • 2 Tablespoons fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons dried parsley
    • 6 uncooked lasagna noodles

    Directions

    1. 1In a large skillet brown beef and onion. Add garlic and cook for one minute. Drain.
    2. 2Add spaghetti sauce and water and simmer for about 5 minutes.
    3. 3Mix ricotta, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, 2 Tablespoons Parmesan, egg and parsley.
    4. 4Pour 1 cup of spaghetti meat sauce into a 4 to 6 quart sized slow cooker. Place half of the noodles and half of the ricotta mixture on top of the sauce. Cover with 2 cups meat sauce. Top with remaining noodles (If the noodles don't fit exactly break them to fit) and cheese mixture and meat sauce.
    5. 5Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or until noodles are soft. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of mozzarella and remaining parmesan. Cover with the lid to melt the cheese and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
    6. 6Do not overcook and don't try to speed up the process by cooking it on high.
    7. 7*Works best with a 4 to 6 quart size slow cooker.

Since the lasagna is made inside a slow cooker, @Anonymous, the noodles will most likely need to be broken in half in order to fit — so that's almost like using 12! :)

Are you sure you don't mean 16 lasagna noodles??? I'm gonna go with that b/c 6 doesn't seem like nearly enough!

We haven't tried it that way and, while I do recommend following the ingredients, experimentation is welcome! If you'd rather play it safe, this lasagna recipe uses cottage cheese: http://www.tablespoon.com/recipes/quick-lasagna-recipe/1/ — let us know how yours turns out! :)

"Why would you want to spend 4 hours cooking something when you could make "real" lasagna in 1 hour in the oven that tastes a lot better?! We all work 8-hour days don't we?" Well no some people work 12 hours. It's really nice when my husband starts something in the crock pot that takes 4-6 hours to cook. I can wake up or come home from a 12 hour shift and have a hot and yummy meal that I didn't have to take the time to make for "real". And some men should only be trusted with a slow cooker not an oven. Great recipe by the way. Tastes awesome!

Made this today and used no water but added a can of diced tomato. It was okay but if I make it again I am going to use more mozzarella and less ricotta and ground beef. I like lasagna saucy and gooey- this was more beefy but it cooked in about 4hrs with no burning

To kick this up a notch with flavor, (not for the calorie shy)add a pack of pepperoni slices to the ground beef and fry with the onion/garlic. Add 1 tsp of Italian seasoning or 1/2 tsp dried basil and 1/2 tsp oregano, this will make a cheap sauce will taste like a more expensive one. These little steps make a HUGE difference in flavor.

I thought slow-cooker recipes were for putting on to cook while you went to work... lol. Maybe I'll try this one on a Sunday but will definitely use white sauce instead of red -- ick :)

I followed everything exactly EXCEPT I used a 3.5 qt oval crockpot and did 3 layers of everything. 3.5 hours on low and it was PERFECTLY moist, not a single crunchy part. It was slightly watery but most of that stayed in the bottom of the crockpot. According to the boyfriend "best lasagna ever"

I made this recipe last night and I added green, red, yellow, and orange peppers, I seasoned the meat, added extra sauce, and extra cheese. The dish turned out perfect, thank you for providing me with the basic steps I needed to make this dish happen. I got a crock pot for Christmas and this was the very first dish thay i have made. Now I'm looking foward to many others.

Great dish, but mine was a little burnt at the edges and the sides. I cooked it for 4-3/4 hours on low, which is too long. Did anybody else have a problem with burning? Does cooking it for only 4 hours eliminate that problem? Delicious even with slight burning.

I just tried this and the top noodles went from hard to tacky to dried out on top and burnt on the edges. I think you need to use the no bake noodles personally. Maybe my crock pot cooks too hot but I had it on low. I will try it again with no bake and see if it works. The middle was good tasting but a little dry so maybe add more water.

Hi! The egg is mainly used as a binding agent for the ricotta. However, it doesn’t affect the deliciousness of this recipe. No egg, no problem! :)

I made this last night and it rocked .. my boyfriend and I loved it. it was super easy and I used sauce that was on sale for a dollar. It was super inexpensive but 4 hours was definitely a little too long. I should have read the comments that said to cook for 3 and a half hours first however the only thing that happened was the edges were a little burnt .. we just didn't eat that part. I will be making for my elderly grandparents who are house bound. to the person who said it was bland id suggest using different sauce .. more garlic more spices. i used exactly what it called for and was awesome but every sauce is going to be different. may even use a vokda sauce next time

Not what I expected. Lacked flavor, I suggest adding plenty of salt & pepper and whatever else you'd like to the cheese mixture and the meat. It was okay, just kind of dull. And mine was also done in 3 1/2 hours on low.

Really good!! My husband and girls each had 2 helpings!! I did change just a few things! I used ground turkey, and added some seasonings to the meat. I also added one extra layer of noodles. I would recommend cooking it for no longer than 4 and 1/2 hours, because at 5 hrs the noodles got a little mushy! And lastly I put the topping cheese (with a little extra mozzarella) on at the same time as everything else, and it still cooked perfectly!! :)

I made this last night and added salt, pepper, basil and a bit of sugar to cut the acidity of the sauce. My husband and son gave it 5 stars but I give it only 4 because I really felt it needed the extra seasonings. Trying to cut down on the calories, I also used fat-free ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Big mistake. Take my word for it. I will definitely be making this again but will use regular ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Thanks for sharing.

I can't wait to try lasagna in the crockpot! It's one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments!! Thanks!! In response the the question below...No-boil noodles are a rip-off. I've been making lasagna w/o cooking the noodles way longer than they've been making "no-boil noodles". If you notice, the price is higher for the no-boil kind, too! Just make sure you have plenty of moisture...sauce...and you'll be fine!

You have to cover it with the lid, otherwise it will not get to the right temperature. I think the author just means to make sure to replace the lid when melting the cheese.

I added to the recipe that for the best results cook this in a 4, 5, or 6 quart crockpot. Since there are 4 cups in a quart you should probably divide this recipe by 4 but to be safe maybe even 6. Good luck!
