    Ingredients

    • 1 pound (16 ounces) ground beef
    • 1/2 cup diced white onion
    • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
    • 1 (24 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
    • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 whole egg
    • 2 Tablespoons fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons dried parsley
    • 6 uncooked lasagna noodles

    Directions

    1. 1In a large skillet brown beef and onion. Add garlic and cook for one minute. Drain.
    2. 2Add spaghetti sauce and water and simmer for about 5 minutes.
    3. 3Mix ricotta, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, 2 Tablespoons Parmesan, egg and parsley.
    4. 4Pour 1 cup of spaghetti meat sauce into a 4 to 6 quart sized slow cooker. Place half of the noodles and half of the ricotta mixture on top of the sauce. Cover with 2 cups meat sauce. Top with remaining noodles (If the noodles don't fit exactly break them to fit) and cheese mixture and meat sauce.
    5. 5Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or until noodles are soft. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of mozzarella and remaining parmesan. Cover with the lid to melt the cheese and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
    6. 6Do not overcook and don't try to speed up the process by cooking it on high.
    7. 7*Works best with a 4 to 6 quart size slow cooker.

Really good!! My husband and girls each had 2 helpings!! I did change just a few things! I used ground turkey, and added some seasonings to the meat. I also added one extra layer of noodles. I would recommend cooking it for no longer than 4 and 1/2 hours, because at 5 hrs the noodles got a little mushy! And lastly I put the topping cheese (with a little extra mozzarella) on at the same time as everything else, and it still cooked perfectly!! :)

I made this last night and added salt, pepper, basil and a bit of sugar to cut the acidity of the sauce. My husband and son gave it 5 stars but I give it only 4 because I really felt it needed the extra seasonings. Trying to cut down on the calories, I also used fat-free ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Big mistake. Take my word for it. I will definitely be making this again but will use regular ricotta and mozzarella cheese.

    Thanks for sharing.

I can't wait to try lasagna in the crockpot! It's one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments!! Thanks!!

In response the the question below...No-boil noodles are a rip-off. I've been making lasagna w/o cooking the noodles way longer than they've been making "no-boil noodles". If you notice, the price is higher for the no-boil kind, too! Just make sure you have plenty of moisture...sauce...and you'll be fine!

Really? Regular uncooked noodles work? You don't need the no-boil kind??

i can not believe that people have to ask if they should haver to keep it covered or not. its a crock pot. i wonder if they would ask the same question if they were making a roast?

You have to cover it with the lid, otherwise it will not get to the right temperature. I think the author just means to make sure to replace the lid when melting the cheese.

I have made lasagne in the crockpot several times. Not this recipe, but a similar one. I left it covered the entire time.

usually my husband would slave away and make a big batch of lasagna the old traditional way (and i'd slave away washing the pots and pans), and then we'd freeze 3/4 of them. but i suppose now if i want lasagna on weeknights, i'd just use the crockpot. thanks.

I would love to try this but have the same question as another poster: do you cover it with a lid to entire time, or just at the end to melt the cheese?

You do not have to use the oven ready noodles. Regular noodles work just fine!

Do you use the "oven ready" lasagna noodles or the regular kind you'd normally boil?

I added to the recipe that for the best results cook this in a 4, 5, or 6 quart crockpot. Since there are 4 cups in a quart you should probably divide this recipe by 4 but to be safe maybe even 6. Good luck!
