    Ingredients

    • 3  cups fresh pitted sweet red cherries*
    • 1/3  cup sugar
    • 2  tablespoons cornstarch
    • 2/3  cup water
    • 1  teaspoon grated lemon peel
    • 1/2  teaspoon almond extract
    • TOPPING
    • 1  (7.5-oz.) can Pillsbury® Refrigerated Country® biscuits
    • 1  tablespoon sugar
    • 1/8  teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1  tablespoon margarine or butter, melted

    Directions

    1. 1Place cherries in 2-quart microwave-safe casserole. In small bowl, combine 1/3 cup sugar and cornstarch; stir into cherries. Add water, lemon peel and almond extract; stir until combined. Microwave on HIGH for 5 minutes. Stir; microwave on HIGH an additional 2 to 5 minutes or until bubbly and thickened.**
    2. 2Heat oven to 375°F. Separate dough into 10 biscuits. Place biscuits on top of hot cherry mixture. In small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon. Brush tops of biscuits with melted margarine; sprinkle with sugar-cinnamon mixture.
    3. 3Bake at 375°F. for 15 to 20 minutes or until biscuits are deep golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
