    Ingredients

    • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tbsp plus 2 tsp baking powder
    • 2 1/2 tsp sugar
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 6 tbsp butter, cold and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
    • 3/4 cup buttermilk
    • 1 1/4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

    Directions

    1. 1Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
    2. 2In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
    3. 3Add in butter and whisk until butter is in pea-size pieces.
    4. 4Add in cheese and buttermilk and mix until dough is wet and shaggy.
    5. 5Using an ice cream scoop or spoon, scoop 1/4 cup-size pieces of dough 2 inches apart onto a baking stone or parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
    6. 6Bake 15-20 minutes or until very lightly browned. Serve warm.
