Football Pizza Cake

This triple-layer pizza cake shaped like a football will feed a crowd for the big game!

Ingredients

tubes Pillsbury™ refrigerated thin pizza crust
3
ounces pepperoni
3
cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 1/2
cups pizza sauce
1
string cheese

Directions

  • 1 Preheat oven to 425º F.
  • 2 Spray a football-shaped cake pan with cooking spray. Unroll 2 pizza crusts onto baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  • 3 Cut football shapes out of crusts, one larger than the other. Unroll and drape another tube of pizza dough over the inside of football pan. Sprinkle on 1/4 of pepperoni, cheese, and sauce. Top with smaller football-shaped crust.
  • 4 Sprinkle on 1/3 remaining pepperoni, cheese, and sauce. Top with larger football-shaped crust. Sprinkle on remaining pepperoni, cheese, and sauce.
  • 5 Unroll and drape another tube of pizza dough over top of the pan. Cut off dough around the edge of pan. Pinch dough together along the edge of pan.
  • 6 Bake for 15 minutes, then turn the oven off, cover pizza with foil, and leave in oven for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, use string cheese to create the laces for the football.
  • 7 Remove pizza from the oven and un-mold it onto a serving platter. Add string cheese laces to the top of football. Serve hot.

If you have hungry football fans watching the big game at your house, you're gonna need to serve them something filling—and it might as well be fun, too! Imagine the cheers you'll get when you bring out this football-shaped pizza and cut into it to reveal layers of ooey gooey cheese and lots of pepperoni. You’ll definitely get the crowd on their feet!

Sure, you could just call for delivery, but in about the same amount of time you could have this cool pizza cake ready instead. I bet you score bigger points with this amazing appetizer!

You’ll need a football-shaped cake pan and a few football-shaped pizza crusts to layer inside the cake. To make sure your crust layers fit well in the pan, draw an outline around the edge of the pan onto a piece of parchment paper.

Then cut out a football that is about 1/2 inch smaller than the outline.

Unroll two tubes of pizza dough and set them on a baking pan and pop them in a 425ºF oven for 8-10 minutes until they get nice and golden brown.

Allow the crust to cool for about 10 minutes.

Set the paper football over top of one of the crusts and cut out around it.

Then cut off about 3/4 inch all the way around the paper football. Set it on the second crust and cut out around it.

Spray the football pan with cooking spray and unroll another tube of dough.

Drape the dough over the cake pan. Then start adding pizza toppings. Sprinkle on about 1/4 of the pepperoni, cheese and sauce.

Top with the smaller football-shaped crust.

Sprinkle on 1/3 of the remaining pepperoni, cheese and sauce. Top with the larger football-shaped crust.
