Ingredients

  • Crust
  • 1  Pillsbury® refrigerated pie crust (from 15-oz box), softened as directed on box
  • Filling
  • 3  oz Hershey's® unsweetened chocolate, cut into pieces
  • 1  cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened (do not use margarine)
  • 1  cup sugar
  • 1/2  teaspoon vanilla
  • 4  pasteurized eggs or 1 cup fat-free cholesterol-free egg product
  • Topping
  • 1/2  cup sweetened whipped cream
  • Chocolate curls, if desired

Directions

  1. 1Heat oven to 450°F. Make pie crust as directed on box for One-Crust Baked Shell, using 9-inch glass pie plate. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  2. 2In 1-quart saucepan, melt chocolate over low heat; cool. In small bowl with electric mixer, beat butter on medium speed until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in cooled chocolate and vanilla until well blended.
  3. 3Add eggs 1 at a time, beating on high speed 2 minutes after each addition; beat until mixture is smooth and fluffy. Pour into cooled baked shell. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate curls. Store in refrigerator.

Hi! Make sure you aren’t over-beating the ingredients. They should be a light and fluffy consistency. Also, be sure that the chocolate and vanilla are cooled before you beat them into the mixture. Hope this helps!

Hi Anon - Margarine has a different consistency than butter. Unfortunately, it won't work for this recipe.

I had to reread this twice to make sure I was reading it right and that it was using raw eggs. I scrolled up then and saw in the heading it said to use pasturized or egg subsitute. I still would not be able to eat it with raw eggs. I think the written part of the recipe should restate using pasturized or egg substitute when it says 4 eggs. It is easily missed and someone will just use raw eggs and possibly get sick.

Just made this and it's insanely delicious! I could eat the filling all by itself because it's so luscious and creamy! The filling is definitely rich so go easy when cutting the pie!

This is absolutely lucious! It is soooo easy to make - takes really very little time and the response from my guests was overwhelming! Everybody loved it. Definitely on my "make - again - soon" list! This is slightly RICH so go easy on the slices!
