Use stevia-based Truvía™ natural sweetener to bring down the sugar in this delicious morning treat.

Ingredients

1
cup fat-free (skim) milk
1/2
cup fat-free egg product
1
tablespoon Truvía™ Spoonable natural sweetener
1/4
teaspoon salt
1
teaspoon vanilla
1
tablespoon butter
6
slices flourless sprouted 100% whole grain bread
1 1/2
cups mixed fresh berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries), sliced if large
6
tablespoons frozen (thawed) sugar-free whipped topping
Sugar-free maple-flavored syrup, if desired

Directions

  • 1 In medium bowl, beat milk, egg product, Truvía™ natural sweetener, salt and vanilla. Pour into shallow dish; set aside.
  • 2 Heat nonstick griddle or nonstick skillet over medium heat or to 350°F. (To test griddle, sprinkle with a few drops of water. If bubble jump around, heat is just right.). Grease griddle with butter as needed.
  • 3 Dip bread into egg mixture; coating each side of bread. Place on griddle. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • 4 Serve each slice with 1/4 cup berries and 1 tablespoon whipped topping. Drizzle with syrup.

Tips

This bread is an organic product that is found in the freezer department of many grocery stores.

Store any leftover French toast in resealable freezer plastic bag in the freezer for up to 1 month. To reheat, remove from bag, and microwave on microwavable plate uncovered on High for about 45 seconds, or heat in toaster.

If you are cooking the French toast in batches, heat oven to 200°F. Place cooked French toast on ungreased cookie sheet in oven to keep warm while preparing remaining French toast.

Did you know that you can make "powdered sugar" out of stevia-based sweetener? Make powdered sweetener by blending 2 Tbsp + 1 tsp sweetener and 1 Tbsp cornstarch in blender on high speed 1 minute. Lightly sprinkle over French toast and berries.

Substitute 4 packets Truvía™ natural sweetener for the Truvía™ Spoonable natural sweetener.
